Enamel Contouring
Enamel contouring is the process of shaping natural teeth to improve their appearance. Gum Contouring
Do you feel like your smile is too gummy? Do your teeth look too short? If so, you might be an excellent candidate for gum contouring. Gum contouring removes excess gum tissue and exposes more of the crown of the tooth. Your gum line can be carefully sculpted to create just the right proportion between gum tissue and tooth surface, resulting in a better-looking smile. Often times, a smile with too much visible gum-line or short, stubby teeth can be corrected. If you feel you are a candidate for gum contouring cosmetic dentistry and live in Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Napa or surrounding areas, contact us today!

Crowns
You don't have to live with crooked, broken, misaligned, or damaged teeth, especially since we offer a host of reparative options. Crowns are an excellent way to perfect your smile, especially if your teeth are badly fractured or have fillings that are breaking down. Crowns are also virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. Contact our office if you would like to know more about crowns and cosmetic dentistry and you are in Napa, Petaluma, Novato Rohnert Park or surrounding communities.

Extractions
Some patients have mouths that are too small to comfortably accommodate a full set of adult teeth, especially once their wisdom teeth start to come in. Other patients may have teeth that have badly decayed or that cause extreme pain, making eating, speaking, and even sleeping difficult. In such cases, tooth extraction might be the best option. To learn more about tooth extraction at our Rohnert Park dentistry practice, please contact us today.

White Fillings

Gum Treatment
Gum, or periodontal, disease-which often goes undetected-can lead to a myriad of serious health problems, in addition to tooth loss and painful, bleeding gums. It is triggered by excess bacteria that settle in the mouth and first surfaces in the form of tender, swollen, and bleeding gums (gingivitis). Caught early, it can be reversed. We use several techniques to fight periodontal disease, including scaling and root planing. We offer all of the necessary cleaning aids such as Sonicare Toothbrush, Hydrofloss irrigators and Oxyfresh products. To learn more about our gum treatment options, please contact our dentistry practice today.

Rohnert Park - Dental Implants

Our Rohnert Park practice uses dental implants as the perfect solution to missing teeth. Not only are dental implants permanent, they are also comfortable, discreet, and injury-resistant. At our cosmetic dentistry practice in Rohnert Park, dental implants are inserted by first folding the gums gently back, and then anchoring a titanium post in place. After the post has successfully integrated into the surrounding bone, a cap-or crown-is fitted into place. We only use crowns in our dental implants that look extremely natural and last long. To learn more about dental implants, please contact Dr. Wayne Sutton in Rohnert Park today.

Root Canal Therapy
If your tooth has suffered severe injury-such as a deep crack, advanced decay, nerve damage, or infection-a root canal might be the only way to save it. During Root Canal Therapy, the tooth is "numbed" (just like having a filling). Then the unhealthy nerve is removed and medication is placed in the tooth to treat the bacterial abscess (infection). After the infection is removed and treated, a filling is placed in the roots where the unhealthy nerve was. The tooth is more brittle and must be crowned to give it sufficient strength. To learn more about root canal therapy, please contact Dr. Wayne Sutton today.

TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint, or jaw joint. Problems with the TMJ are referred to as TMJ Syndrome. In many cases, TMJ problems present themselves as a popping sound and sensation near the jaw joint. TMJ problems typically affect people under 40 years old, though anyone can suffer from the syndrome. Women are particularly susceptible to TMJ syndrome.

TMJ is often associated with the following symptoms that can gradually intensify with age:

  • Headaches
  • Earaches, stuffiness, or ringing in the ears
  • Pain or soreness in and around the jaw joints

  • Numbness in fingers and arms
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Limited movement or locking of the jaw
  • Clicking or grating sounds in the jaw joints
  • Pain behind the eyes
  • Neck, shoulder, or back pain
  • Facial pain
Unexplained loosening of teeth

If you suffer from one or more of the symptoms listed above, you may have TMJ syndrome. Consult with San Francisco area TMJ dentist Dr. Wayne Sutton to have your situation evaluated. Dr. Wayne Sutton is a San Francisco area TMJ dentist with the experience and skill to help you correct your TMJ syndrome.

Digital X-rays
Our office is proud to offer digital X-rays, an excellent alternative to traditional X-rays. These revolutionary tools reduce radiation exposure by more than 90 percent, making them extremely safe. Digital X-rays are taken with a tiny camera that is inserted in the mouth-the images it captures are transferred instantaneously to a computer screen, where both you and your dentist can evaluate them. Intraoral Cameras
Ever wonder what we see when we look into your mouth? Well, if you're curious, be sure to take a look at the vivid photographs our intraoral camera can take. Using a tiny fiber-optic wand, the camera records shots of the inside of your mouth, allowing us to identify dental problems and decide how to treat them. Computer-Controlled Injections (The Wand)
We know that some patients get more nervous than others do at the mere sight of a needle and syringe. The source of discomfort for most injections, however, isn't the needle, it's the flow of the anesthetic into your tissue. That's why we now perform anesthetic injections with a revolutionary system called The WANDT. The WANDT delivers the anesthetic at an optimal flow rate for a comfortable injection. Constant, slow flow is one key to virtually pain-free injections. The WANDT helps us provide a more effective anesthetic delivery to our dentistry patients, and the onset of anesthesia is often faster. You'll be more comfortable throughout the procedure, and we may be able to use new techniques so you won't experience the lingering numbness of your tongue, lips, and face. If you avoid the dentist in fear of injections for cosmetic dentistry, and live in Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Napa, or communities neighboring Rohnert Park, contact us today to learn more about The WANDT

Soft Tissue Laser
If you suffer from periodontal disease, a soft tissue laser might work wonders for you. Used to cosmetically contour gums, lengthen crowns to provide ample structure for restoration, and treat pockets of infection during gum treatment, soft tissue lasers are self-sterilizing, provide the maximum amount of control, and are virtually painless during the procedure and post-operatively. Please contact us today to learn about soft tissue laser-assisted cosmetic dentistry for patients in Napa, Novato, Santa Rosa and other communities outside of Rohnert Park.

Microdentistry and Air-Abrasion
Micro-dentistry is a new, alternative way to treat decay-especially cavities-in teeth. This technology, which includes bonding techniques, decay-indicating dyes, magnification, fiber-optic lights, and white filling materials, removes a minimal amount of natural tooth while still eliminating all decay. We also rely on air-abrasion, which is a relatively new process in which a fine, pressurized stream of aluminum oxide powder is used to remove the small decayed pits and fissures in teeth, to produce optimal results. Microdentistry is safe, effective, and virtually painless-in 90 percent of cases, we do not need to administer numbing medications. To learn more about this exciting new technology, please contact our practice today.

Like others, I suffered for many years with the fear and anxiety of going to the dentist. From my painful dental experiences as a small child, I was absolutely embarrassed to talk to anyone about my dental phobia, for fear of being unfairly judged.

When I first heard the ad about sleep dentistry it sounded interesting, so I did some research on the Internet. At first, I was somewhat doubtful about the procedure, having thought that I would be the one person who would still feel the pain. My first consultation with Dr. Sutton eliminated all those fears. He assured me that the procedure would work for me and that he would make me as comfortable as possible. He truly delivered what he promised. After taking a small pill an hour before the procedure, I don't remember much about the visit other than it seemed to go by very quickly. The whole experience was absolutely pain free and without the need for post pain medication.

Simply stated, Dr. Wayne Sutton is a dentist from heaven. Sleep dentistry has proven to be the answer for my concern about the pain and anguish that I had associated with being in the dental chair. After living with guilt and fear for many years, the sleep dentistry procedure performed by Dr. Sutton has finally put me on the right track to maintaining healthier teeth and gums, for which I will always be grateful.

Dr. Sutton and his staff continue to provide me with the highest quality, the most satisfying and considerate dental care that anyone could imagine. For the first time in over 40 years, I finally have teeth that do not cause me pain and anxiety.

To Dr. Sutton and his staff, I pray that you continue your work helping others as you helped me.

Sincerely,
Robert Salfi

To who it may concern:

When Dr. Sutton asked me to write this testimonial on the benefits of sedation dentistry, I thought to myself, what could I say? I'm not a writer, how could I convey how great Dr. Sutton, his staff, and sedation dentistry is. So I will speak to you (or in this case write) from the heart.

I am sorry to say that it has been at least over 8 years since I had seen a dentist. Needless to say my teeth were in poor shape. There were many reasons it had been so long since my last dental visit. I hated the dentist (nothing-personal Dr. Sutton). Just thinking about making the appointment to go made me nervous. You see when I was young; I had a dentist who should not have been a dentist in the first place, let alone deal with young people. My parents also, did not see to it that I learned good dental hygiene. And the fact that it had been so long since my last visit, I felt ashamed. What a horrible person they would think I am for waiting so long. But, I could see for myself every morning in the mirror needing to make that appointment more everyday. So after a lot of prayer I felt the Lord leading me to take that first step. But which dentist, there are so many of them out there. I asked friends, family and co-workers but none of them seemed the right one for me. Then I checked out the yellow pages and saw Dr. Sutton's ad. He looked kind, gentle and compassionate. And the fact that he is handsome made it a plus. It listed a website so I checked out his website (www.smilesbysutton.com). It told how sedation dentistry could help those with fear and time issues. I then e-mailed him with my concerns of my past experiences and the embarrassment I felt. He answered with the gentleness of Dr. Welby. Even though it was over a year until I finally made that first appointment it was like the website stated, they are different than the average dental office. They are warm, kind and loving people. They never one said anything that made me feel ashamed for having gone so long without going to the dentist. It was "we are glad you are here now, that's all that matters."

I had my first sedation visit in January 2004. I was so nervous the night before the appointment that I was not able to sleep at all that night. I let my imagination run away from me of what could happen. But it was a far cry from my nightmares. When I arrived, they sat me down giving me this little pill. A few minutes later they asked my how I was doing and I must of said, "I am doing, ok". The next thing I remembered was when they said they were almost finished. What a piece of cake that was. The night before my next sedation appointment, I slept like a baby (What was there to be afraid of, nothing). What would have taken more than 7 or more visits took only 2. Had I known how great sedation dentistry was, I would have gone back along time ago.

Mary Duncan

P.S. I no longer dread the visit to the dentist.

After many years of putting off going to the dentist due to my past painful experience and embarrassment of the condition that my teeth were in, I found myself having to finally make the PHONE CALL for an appointment.

As soon as I heard the voice on the other end of the phone line I knew I had chosen the right dentist. After meeting with Dr. Sutton and his staff I was made to feel so at ease and very comfortable.

During my first exam, Dr. Sutton and his team made sure not to cause me any pain while examining my teeth, which consists of many painful cavities. Also my fear of getting the lecture of "There's no excuse for letting your teeth get this bad" never happened! Instead I heard we understand what you had to endure and we want you to be able to smile without covering your mouth or smiling with lips closed.

Due to the volume of work that need to be performed and the length of time I would need to be in the chair (5 hours) I requested the "Sedation dentistry". If anyone has a fear of pain or just the anxiety of having to be in a dental chair this is the only way to go!

I was given medication to take 1 hour prior to my visit, which I was a little fearful to take thinking that I would have no control of my wits. Not to worry. I felt very relax, calm and very aware of my surroundings.

The only thing I remembered was the nice warm blanket that was placed over me and a couple of times I was asked to turn my head. I felt no pain, no shot, no drill, no nothing!

So far I have had my front two teeth worked on along with some gum work but already I find myself smiling showing my teeth for the first time in 10 years! I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to smile out loud.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Sutton and his team. I highly recommend them to anyone who is tired of not being able to smile and more importantly dealing with pain, it's time to make that call.

I guess in closing I should mention that my new teeth are a work of art! Everyone I smile for tell me that they can't tell that they are not my own. They are beautiful.

Thank you Dr. Sutton and team for giving me back my smile and for treating me so kindly and with respect and showing me that there is no longer a reason to fear going to the dentist.

Holly Bruce
